Tasting Notes
This wine features an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it releases a complex bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, such as raspberries, blueberries, and plums, enriched with notes of aromatic herbs, oriental spices, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a freshness that enhances its elegance. The finish is long and persistent, with a subtle minerality reminiscent of Etna's volcanic terroir.
Pairings
The 2020 Magma pairs perfectly with red meat dishes, roasts, and game. It's also ideal with aged cheeses and Sicilian dishes, such as Pasta alla Norma. Its structure and complexity make it ideal for enjoying on its own, allowing you to fully appreciate its aromatic nuances.
Cellar - Frank Cornelissen
Frank Cornelissen is a Belgian winemaker who has chosen Etna as his winery. Since 2001, he has been pursuing natural viticulture, focusing on native varieties such as Nerello Mascalese. His philosophy is based on minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the wine to fully express the character of the terroir. Magma is his flagship wine, produced only in the best vintages from old, ungrafted vines in the Barbabecchi district, located at an altitude of 870-910 meters above sea level. This area, facing north-northeast, benefits from a cool climate that contributes to the slow ripening and aromatic complexity of the grapes.
