Château - Petrus
The history of Château Petrus is fascinating and marked by decisive moments that have contributed to its worldwide fame. Originally owned by the Arnaud family, the vineyard was already renowned in the 19th century. In 1917, M. Sabin-Douarre acquired the property, but it was with the arrival of Marie Louise Loubat in the 1920s that Petrus's fate changed radically. Loubat, owner of the Hôtel Loubat in Libourne, became sole owner in 1940 and, together with merchant Jean-Pierre Moueix, implemented a marketing strategy that elevated Petrus to a global icon. Moueix's management, which tripled prices and focused on exclusive distribution, was crucial to the wine's international success. Today, Château Petrus is considered one of Bordeaux's most prestigious producers, with a limited annual production that guarantees its exclusivity.
