Cellar - Murgo
The Murgo Winery was founded in 1981 by Baron Emanuele Scammacca del Murgo, with the goal of transforming the family estate into a quality winemaking enterprise. Located in Sicily, specifically in Santa Venerina (Catania), the winery spans three main estates: San Michele in Santa Venerina, Gelso Bianco in Catania, and La Francescana in Aprilia, for a total of approximately 30 hectares of vineyards.
Murgo's production focuses primarily on Etna DOC wines and Metodo Classico sparkling wines. The first Etna Rosso DOC was bottled in 1982, while the first Spumante Brut dates back to 1991. Over the years, the baron has been supported by his children, who today collaborate to carry on the tradition with an eye to innovation.
In the vineyard, maximum attention is paid to biodiversity and low-impact techniques, with sustainable management focusing on natural methods. In the winery, too, every process respects the integrity and quality of the grapes, preserving the expression of the Etna terroir. The winery offers a wide and carefully curated selection, from the Etna DOC wines of the "Murgo" line to the labels of the "Tenuta San Michele" line, produced only in excellent vintages.
